A food production company with a mixed fleet of counterbalanced trucks powered by lead-acid batteries was implementing battery swapping techniques to maximize uptime. Although the company was impressed with Nuvera's hydrogen power solution, its current fleet wasn't compatible with advanced fuel cells.
However, the customer recommended Nuvera to a sister facility that was undergoing a warehouse expansion.
INITIAL CHALLENGE
A food producer had a fleet of 20 trucks powered by lead-acid batteries. Its biggest battery challenges were the amount of space reserved for charging and the loss in productivity during battery swaps each shift.
OUR SOLUTION
Replace lead-acid batteries with Nuvera hydrogen fuel cells to reclaim valuable floor space. Leasing a hydrogen source through a setup that includes regular fuel delivery and minimal infrastructure saves the customer time and value space. The infrastructure consists of a pipe into the building, and a single dispenser which will refuel cells in as little as three minutes.
THE RESULTS
Eliminating the need for battery swaps, the customer's trucks now run at 100% power for the entire shift - resulting in increased productivity. According to the customer, operator morale has improved as workers feel more efficient. And most importantly, using Nuvera hydrogen fuel cells has allowed operations to reclaim valuable floor space.
