INITIAL CHALLENGE
The customer utilized hand wrapping techniques to secure pallets. This manual, time-consuming process was costly. Hand wrapping took an average of 2-4 minutes per pallet. It was inconsistent and didn’t use the product efficiently. With only 1-2% pull, employees burned through an average of one roll every three days.
OUR SOLUTION
Implement a stretch wrap machine to maximize the product’s efficiency, speed up the process and reduce both labor and material costs. This solution allowed the customer to increase throughput and reduce the amount of stretch wrap needed - as machine wrapping was 250% more effective than hand wrapping.
THE RESULTS
The customer saved $3,600 in stretch wrap and $6,600 in labor based on their pallet size. The new process not only reduced time to fill, but also allowed them to stretch wrap more than double the amount of product with a machine. Plus, the pallets are more secure with less damage and product shift during transportation.
