Pedestrian Awareness Cameras
Clear alerts. Better decisions. Safer outcomes.
In a busy warehouse, one blind spot can change a life. A single incident can impact a family, a team and your operation for years. Investing in the right technology is not about equipment, it's about people.
The Pedestrian Awareness Camera is designed to detect people behind a lift truck and alert the operator before contact occurs. The rear-mounted camera provides a 100 degree field of view an can identify pedestrians at 16 to 20 feet.
Smarter safety starts with visibility
THE COSTS OF DOING NOTHING
- 70% of incidents are due to operator error
- 40% rising turnover rate in warehouses cause many operators to lack experience
- More than one third of lost workdays are associated with muscular or skeletal problems
- Those lost work days result in $20 billion in direct costs (workers' comp) and $100 billion in indirect costs (hiring, training).
When you weight the cost of an incident against the cost of prevention, the decision becomes clear. A modest investment in detection technology can reduce risk, protect your workforce and support compliance efforts.
Safety is not a line item. It is a commitment to every person who walks on your floor.
TURN DATA INTO SMARTER DECISIONS
Pedestrian awareness cameras do more than detect movement. They give you the data to improve operator performance, reduce the risk of collisions and build a stronger safety culture. With clear insights into how equipment and people interact in your facility, you can act before incidents happen.
- Reduce the risk of collisions by identifying high-risk interactions between forklifts and equipment
- Improve compliance and safety culture with documented detection events and reporting
- Gain visibility into high-risk operating patterns across shifts, zones and equipment
- Access actionable insight that supports coaching and continuous improvement
- Real-time monitoring that captures detection events whether equipment is moving or stationary
- Scheduled reporting with event tables showing pedestrian counts, distances and motion status
- Visual analytics that highlight trends by date, hazard level and equipment
When you can see the full picture, you can make informed decisions that protect your people and keep operations moving.
CHOOSE THE LEVEL OF SUPPORT THAT FITS YOUR FLEET AND FACILITY
The two-system offering provides audible and visual alerts and is available for all truck classes in both aftermarket and factory configurations.
The three-system offering adds traction alerts for an added layer of protection. Aftermarket and factory installation is available for classes 1, 4, and 5 sit-down forklifts, rear-only in standard configuration.Â
*Installation is not recommended on trucks more than five years old.
Audible Alert
The operator hears a message such as "Pedestrian within 16 feet"
Visual Alert
An in-cab display shows the zone where the detection occurred
Traction Assist
The truck automatically decelerates, similar to lifting a foot off the accelerator
SIMPLE INSTALLATION. SMARTER DETECTION.
The pedestrian awareness camera is built for fast deployment and reliable performance in active warehouse environments. It enhances operator awareness without adding complexity to your operation.
- Easy, magnetic installation for quick setup and minimal downtime
- Active ranging technology that calculates pedestrian distance from the forklift and supports visual and audible alerts
- LED light indicators that activate when a pedestrian enters the detection zone
- No wearable tags required for pedestrians
- Accurate detection across range of operational scenarios
- Engineered for harsh industrial environments including dust, vibration and temperature changes
The results is a practical safety solution that supports operators and protects people without disrupting workflow.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHEN DO AUDIBLE, VISUAL AND TRATION ALERTS ENGAGE?
Alerts disengage when pedestrians are no longer detected within range of in the camera's field of view.
HOW CAN OPERATORS SEE WHERE THE PEDESTRIAN WAS DETECTED?
Operators must always confirm pedestrian location visually. The in-cab display helps show where the detection occurred once the truck has stopped.
ARE MULTI-CAMERA OPTIONS AVAILABLE?
Yes. The two-alert system with audio and visual alerts can be field-installed with multiple cameras. Two or three-alert multi-camera systems are also available installed at the factory.
CAN THE ALERT DISPLAY LOCATIONS BE ADJUSTED?
This display is factory installed in a position based on truck model. Ask about available options to adjust placement.
CAN THE SYSTEM BE INSTALLED ON AN EXISTING FORKLIFT FLEET?
yes. The two-alert system can be installed on most forklift models. The three-alert system is available on select Hyster and Yale models that meet configuration requirements and less than five years old.
IS THE AUDIBLE ALERT OFFERED IN MULTIPLE LANGUAGES?
The audible alert is currently only available in English.
CAN THE SYSTEM OPERATE INDOORS AND OUTDOORS?
Yes. The camera adapts to changing light and environmental conditions. Like all vision systems, complete darkness may limit performance.
IS THE SYSTEM SUITABLE FOR COLD STORAGE APPLICATIONS?
Yes. Moving between temperature zones may cause condensation on the lens. If the view becomes obstructed, the operator will receive a notification of reduced functionality.
